The past few days
I noticed myself looking away
Slipping, scrolling, quickly
Passt the burning Forests
Shoving down the rising Tears
Breathing through the clenching.
Pretending there isn’t an ancient Wail
Waiting to be screamed, raged.
Raging at the loss of so much precious
Life.
This morning I let myself go there.
And I cried, and I sobbed.
And I felt the burning weight of hopelessness
As creatures and ecosystems I love so deeply
Get burned alive
I felt the terror of the flames approaching
The suffocation of the dystopian smoke.
I’ve lived through many years of these wildfires
My Body remembers them well.
After the tears,
There it was.
Clarity. Vitality.
What I could offer.
These fires are terrifying.
Impacting the very survival of so many
Currently living in the Okanagan.
I want to reach out through the screen
And take your hand. Slow down, as I hold your eyes, and offer deep slow breathes into your Body.
Breathing,
Slow.
Back home
Into this moment.
Then with different fire in my eye,
I’d nearly whisper.
“Come, We have to dance”
Let’s not allow ourselves to become spectators to devastation, scrolling
past what we love while our nervous systems quietly harden around it.
Come back into relationship.
Come back into grief.
Come back into the animal Body.
Then see what becomes possible.
On this New Moon eclipse. August 12
I will be offering a virtual Ecstatic Dance Ceremony.
Come dance in the sanctuary of your own home, but with other sacred bodies.
And let this energy move through us.
Out of us.
Let’s grieve for our Forests, for one another.
Let’s name how scary and impactful this moment is and offer it reverence through the altars of our Bodies.
100% of the proceeds will be donated to animal and wildlife organizations supporting those impacted by the fires.
If you’ve been personally displaced by the fires, this offering is completely free.

And so, we Dance

Yes, love. We must dance. Dancing tonight in Oakland for those I love in the fires in Spokane.
Thank you for this my love. Your courage, your tender heart. Your art! And this fierce, soulful refuge 🫂❤️🩹
